Plastic Back uses a proprietary chemical oxidation process to break plastic down to crude oil, waxes and other valuable chemicals. Their product, a conversion unit based on chemical oxidation, allows treatment and landfill sites to reduce the amount of waste added to landfills. The end products can be upcycled by the petrochemical industry, contributing to a more circular economy. As a turnkey solution, we see great potential for Plastic Back’s technology to be applied by waste handlers like landfills as well as waste manufacturers in agriculture, factories, hospitals and medical devices.

We met Plastic Back in 2020, having scouted their innovative technology for the Shell New Energy Challenge, where they were eventually awarded Runners Up out of over 200 companies. Plastic Back edged out 25,000 leading ventures from around the world to be adjudged the Rising Star Award Winner at the Get in the Ring Global Finals 2021.
