The Hague, December 9, 2020: Unknown Group is delighted to announce the appointment of Madelon Bangma as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), joining the Founding Partners – Hendrik Halbe (CEO), Jurgen Nieuwenhuijsen (COO) and Jochem Cuppen (CCO) – on the Group’s Management Team. Madelon joins Unknown Group as an expert in business development with a focus on finance, accounting, restructuring and M&A. She has previously been a Partner at EY – where she had worked for almost two decades, CFO at Royal Sanders and Board Member of PortXL.

As a VC that goes beyond, Unknown’s mission is to fuel Founders to answer their calling by unlocking the unknown. Madelon’s hire as CFO comes at an exciting time for Unknown Group, as they prepare to launch their Venture Engine on February 1 2021. The Venture Engine empowers founders with team, traction and cash to scale to 100 million valuations and beyond. Madelon’s appointment follows the hiring announcements of two leadership roles – Willem Knaap (formerly Rabobank, now heading Corporate Venturing at Unknown) and Wilson Rainho (previously at StartupBootCamp and Eureeca, joining Unknown as Head of Scouting).

Madelon Bangma said: “I first met Hendrik, Martin, Jurgen and Jochem in 2012, back when they had just launched Get in the Ring. At that time, it wasn’t the global phenomenon we know today. Even then, I immediately fell in love with its business case and infectious energy – and have been a fan and supporter ever since. So when the opportunity to join Unknown Group presented itself all these years later, it was an easy decision to make.” She continues: “In my new role, I’m excited to use my expertise to build on a strategy I really align with, while working with people whose energy and openness I thrive on.”

CEO of Unknown Group, Hendrik Halbe said: “Madelon’s appointment as CFO will be a crucial factor in strengthening and accelerating the growth trajectory of Unknown Group. This appointment shows our great ambitions for the future. Madelon’s extensive background and expertise will no doubt be a benefit to the ventures in our portfolio and to us, as we move to the next stage of our growth!”
